If an asteroid doesn't get us.. maybe it will be when the Antarctic icecap grows heavy enough to upset earths rotation.. and we have another pole shift.. which is happening now.. the arctic ice is melting and at Antarctica it is gaining the equivalent of lake Erie each year (as ice).. the ice mass is so heavy it is causing the earth to deform..

Think of the small mass as in the balance weight added to your car tire to achieve balance.. if it is just a tiny bit more or less than ideal.. your car will vibrate quite a bit..

Look up the HAB theory... Cheers..!!

The end of the world is not near. The end of civilization? I dont think that it is near either. We and our paranoid minds like to invent new and exciting ways that mother earth will shake us off like a case of bad fleas. There is not apocolyptic end in sight. The problem is with too many beginnings. The worlld will always produce more human beings than it can destroy. It is how homo sapiens have survived for hundreds of thousands of years. We are lazier now. We have the time to ponder inane questions like "when will the world end?" or "is there a god?" Take the time to enjoy your surroundings, and you will discover that the meaning in life is singular, and always selfish. Personal satisfaction can sum it up.

Probably global warming ,smog, and ice caps melting. All of those other things historically are pretty much just repeats of similar things. Nobody suspects the butterfly.

None of that, the world will end when we either blow eachother up, the sun goes supernova and turns into a black hole, or an asteroid hits. And the only one that could actually happen in our lifetime would be blowing eachother up... so lets be nice.
