is Valentine possibly offensive like the mess people make about the words Merry Christmas ?

On some Valentines cards, it says
"Happy Heart Day"
even on some of those free e-cards
www.hallmark.com
and Carlton too.

What the heck is this "Heart Day" ?
Those words could offend even more people who know family or friends that died of heart disease.

Oh my gosh, you're right --- it might have a religious or sexist "overtone" to it. We'd better change it to "Heart Day" before the atheists or homosexuals start complaining !!!!

Great observation - congratulations!!!!!!!!

An angel's smile is what you sell
You promise me heaven, then put me through hell
Chains of love got a hold on me
When passion's a prison, you can't break free

You're a loaded gun
There's nowhere to run
No one can save me
The damage is done

Shot through the heart
And you're to blame
You give love a bad name
I play my part and you play your game
You give love a bad name
You give love a bad name

You paint your smile on your lips
Blood red nails on your fingertips
A school boy's dream, you act so shy
Your very first kiss was your first kiss good-bye

You're a loaded gun
There's nowhere to run
No one can save me
The damage is done

Shot through the heart
and you're to blame
You give love a bad name
I play my part and you play your game
You give love a bad name

Why, you don't like the fact that this holiday is named for the Saint who's feast day falls on Feb 14th. Yes, it's actually St. Valentine's day and has been for centuries. Hallmark has turned it into a secular holiday though.
So for all you who don't know it, but this holiday comes to you from the Catholics!

My interpretation of "politically correct" is akin to displaying good manners and respecting others. Therefore, call February 14th whatever you choose.

of course it is offensive. everything to do with any christian religion is offensive to somebody. to those people - i say get over it. if you dont want to celebrate it than dont, but dont stop us from doing so. I dont get all bent out of shape at hunnakah, ramadan, Diwali, or Vesak celebrations.

everyone has a right to celebrate what they choose, without having to worry about it offending someone

If it is, I'll be giving little plastic hearts instead of real chocolates out of sheer spite.
