I am 5 days late for a very reg af(menstrual) I have had lots of crampy feelings. Last af was 12/9. On 1/10 I had lots of cm(clear cervical mucus). Headaches, irritability, sore muscles(had breast reduction, so can't tell there). All these signs, but hpt still says bfn(big fat neg). Nurses,Dr's please help. There has been lots more stress in my life at other times, and has never messed with af before. I believe I ovulated on Dec 24th. How early can menopause start? I'm 31. So ? is, could I be pg and still be showing a bfn 38 days after my last af?? It's so hard not knowing one way or the other. Feel free to I M me to help too. My AF has never been this far apart.

If you ovulated late in your cycle, you may not get a positive for another week or two. Happened to me recently (last cycle). My midwife told me that most hpt's won't read hCG levels below 50 to 150. If you ovulated a week b4 your pd was due, concieved three days later, then your pd would only be due 2 days after you conceived. There's no way a hpt will pick that up. Relax, and hurry up and wait. In the meantime, go ahead and schedule an appt with your gyno, take prenatal vitamins, and take an hpt in another week (if you can't see your gyno sooner).

Oh, and if you do have any bleeding, it could be: implantation bleeding; cervical infection- eg, yeast; sloughing off of unneeded uterine tissue; even an early miscarriage (all of these happened to me after this recent conception). Tomorrow am, call your dr. and get in to see him/her asap...

ok - breathe! Having TTC for two years and then finally conceiving when I least thought I would, i can help you! 2 years ago my LMP was 12/5 -- i ovulated on CD16 (12/19) and got a positive HPT on 12/30 --- on CD27 - 3w5d pregnant. I wasn't due for AF until 1/2 so I got a positive on a digital test (which has a higher threshold than others so it was definitely preggo) before AF was due. The next day, i got a quantitative beta done as the doc's office - it was 51. Barely registered on their HPT's but the blood test showed definite pregnancy. A beta done two days later was 219.

Anyway -menopause does not happen that swiftly. Go to the doc's office or their lab and get a quantitative (not qualitative which just says 'yes' or 'no' --- you want numbers) hCG done. About a year and a half before this pregnancy, I had a beautiful cycle, positive OPKs and beautiful progesterone level post-ovulation and went late --- yippy! but BFNs for days! What the heck!? so i got a blood test and NOTHING - progesterone was .7 and so i had to start on synthetic progesterone so i could initiate a period to start another cycle.

I guess the short answer is, yes you could be pg and showing neg hpt at CD38 - but if you are, it's not likely to survive (my previous pregnancy showed up very late and ended at 9 weeks) not to be a negative nelly --- you really should get a blood test and know for sure. You also could very well have not ovulated either when you think you did or at all. The clear CM is hopeful as well as the irritibility, but that can all be follicular phase stuff too - kwim?

But, rest assured that menopause has not started. While it happens to young women as early as 25, that's so extremely rare it's not something any doctor will even address right away. you can get your FSH and LH tested as well as thyroid function - do a clomid trial and ultrasound observation and 7dpo progesterone testing (NOT CD21 - not everyone ovulated on CD14 like doctors are sure of) to ensure you are ovulating and all that.

good luck dear - feel free to email or IM me. I'm not a nurse (Yet - almost!) but I have loads of experience in this arena, successes and failures and all the tests and stuff done.

It may be too early to tell. The pregnacy hormone that is in your urine may not be high enough yet. For some woman it can take up to two weeks for the test to work.

Also you mentioned having a breast reduction. The immune system is a complicated creature, and it can effect are cycles. Do to the trauma of surgury your body may be a little off. But in time once you are completely healed things should be back to regular.

Hope that helped.

It took 5 months for an over the counter test to decide I was.
But the blood test said yes at 2 months.

If you're nto sure and it's freking you relax and got to a DR for blood test.

Those home tests are very unreliable. They said negative for my sister right up until the time she had both her kids. We tried them just to see after we knew she was pregnant. Go to a clinic and get a test.

You're thinking about too much. Walk away from the pee sticks and wait a few days. You'll get your period anyday now.

Oh, and in our 30s, our bodies change. Could just be hormonal.

I'd vote negative.

If you're past the expected first day of your menstrual period and the pregnancy test is reading negative... you're probably not pregnant. I tested positive two days before my period was even due.

Some women will never get a positive on a urine test, go get a blood test to be sure.

i think you are pms-ing plus stress of worring that you are pregnant. if you were prego...the tes normally would show almost instantly after your missed period..but if no changed in a couple days, re take the test, but i bet you are just stressed
