Sometimes I'm shy. Then other times things will be going really good, and we'll be flirting a lot back and forth. Today was one of the shy days. I feel like if I don't say anything, I'm going to go crazy, yet, I don't want to screw things up if he doesn't like me.

Well, you already have two very good things happening here. One is that you already know him and two, you have flirted back and forth.
What you should do now is just to ask about him. If you aren't comfortable with that, then talk about you. Things you do outside of work etc. It seems he already likes you (flirting) so, just bump it up a notch. Most importantly, do not play games...be forthright and positive.

Just talk to him. If there's anything between the two of you, it will happen without trying much. If nothing happens, at least you made a friend.

Play hard to get... just seem unintersted. Guys are impressed by girls who don't go after them because they love to do all the chasing. Make him wonder about you. Trust me that works all the time. Guys love mysterious girls...

All you have to do is smile and talk with him - ask him about himself, his interests, his likes, dislikes.
If you don't say anything - you'll never know. If he doesn't like you, which is probably not the case, at least you'll know.
