it seems like I get cramps whether I'm in my period or not. Is that normal or is there something wrong?

Cramps right before your period are pretty normal, after I have never heard of anyone having cramps after their period.

Something could very well be wrong. When you get cramping how bad is it? Sometimes cramping while not having your period is from a cyst on your ovary. Also if you have severe cramping during your menstrual cycle. you might have endometriosis which is very common in women, although not enough of them get tested for this. Endometriosis also causes ovarian cysts, although you could get them from other reasons as well. See your doctor for a diagnosis.
