I always do. The reason I do is to get the tanning lotion really even. Right after apllying the tanner, I put a thin layer of lotion on, rubbing it in as evenly as i can.. I never get streaks with this method.

Use Natural Glow. It's a tanning lotion that works really well. It's really natural looking.

if you mix the lotion and self-tanner together it will apply smoother and will reduce streaking and dark areas.

i wouldn't. you should avoid lotions/exfoliators with any type of oil before and after application because it'll cause your tan to streak.
