"A million little pieces" by James Frey. You may have heard things about this book because he arreared on Oprah..and apparently they say he told a few lies throughout the book, or maybe streatched the truth here or there. I decided to read the book anyways because i heard so much about it. I can say that is was very inspiring, i could not put it down. I think you will enjoy if you just give it a chance. He also has a follow up book called "My friend Leonard" and its about his life while he was clean and sober.
Congratulations on your recovery! Stay strong..and good luck!

I'll get alot of thumbs down for this but at least I'm being honest. I've been clean and sober now for almost 6 yrs. I used to attend meetings and such but I don't anymore you know why? Simply put I've never heard so much bullshit and lies coming out of peoples mouths than I have in a meeting. There are some people that think "The Program" is the greatest and I respect that.
I just happen to feel differently.

Bill W.'s Big Blue Book. It has success stories and the 12 steps. Also join AA and get a sponsor ( a mentor) and a bunch of instant friens who are also trying to quit.
Best of luck to you.

Al-Anon has a very good book, it goes day by day and gives you advice as well as inspirational quotes. You can contact your nearest Al-Anon and they can help you locate the book. I can't recall the title but I used to used to read it after my friend gave me a copy when I was drinking a lot. It did help.

Alcohol is a tool that helps you stop the pain, fear or doubt. Once, you figure out what the issue is, then you can grow..
We use alchol because it works... Yes, to hide from our feelings...Once you understand what it is, deal with it and accept it and grow...
