Manchester airport flight change?

A friend of mine, who is coming from Pakistan and going to New York, will change his flight at Manchester airport after a hault there for a couple of hours. I live in Manchester and I am wondering if it would be allowed for me to meet with my friend at the airport or to wave goodbye from far, in case they do not allow me to enter the passengers; area.

if he doesn,t leave the passport control area then you will not be able to see him without a boarding card for a flight

he would need to clear customs first and then check in again.Don`t know if his airline will allow this.
