If you went splat then all you would be splattered into a mess on the ground - quite a stick situation.

If you bouced - every bone and organ in you body would be broken and rupture - It would be very painfull and a lot worse that the splat.

I would choose the splat. Bounce you'd probably live long enough to feel something - which would not be very pleasant.

Bounce, because when you bounce a rock onto a rubber surface the surface is deforming and taking the kinetic energy from the rock and storing it into potential energy, slowing it down in the process, when the rock reachs a certain depth the elastic energy of the rubber begins to release the potential energy and then reaccelerates the rock back into the air.

Look at it this way, would you rather jump onto a trampoline or a cement floor?

In other words an ellastic collisions transfer all your kinetic energy back into kinetic energy.

While an inellastic collision transfers much of your kinetic energy into heat of friction.

Of course it is possible, as the previous poster alluded, that material will transfer the kinetic energy at a rate in which you will be seriously injuried and die a painful death rather than dieing instantly.

So it really depends on how efficiently the material will deform. But hey atleast you have a chance which bounce. Splat you have zero chance.

I believe that the going splat would be your best option because bouncing off would require not only to stop you but to make you go up again its a conservation of momentum thing and either way I would think both would be very painful.

I'm pretty sure that if I fell from a tall building, I don't think I would care if I went splat or bounced. After the first impact.I wouldn't know the difference. Either way, I would show the world I had guts.

if you can manage to bounce please do because by doing so the time it takes you to go will be longer and by that it means that your .....(i think its momentum but im not sure) is slowly diminishing at every bounce

You won't bounce. Trust me on that.
