they say that most women are later than their due dates on their first baby.
I wish you all the luck, but most likely you will be late! SOrry

Is this your first baby? If so, you could walk around dialated to 1 for weeks. So chances of having it by the 18th are slim (although I had my 2nd on her due date). But your already feeling cramping. So, the next thing to do would be to walk. Not ALL woman lose their plug before hard labor. So don't use that as a measure. Walking and keeping in an upright position will cause the head of the baby to push onto your cervix, and help you to dialate. Nipple stimulation works also. You might want to have hubby do that, because having sex can do the trick too. There is actually something in semen that causes the uterus to contract! Its called prostaglandin and it is the same hormone your baby lets out when it is time. Have a good time!
Also, when you are in labor. Don't let anyone tell you to lay on your back the whole time. Gravity helps the delivery along (but it does hurt more) Try sitting like a pretzel and doing pelvic tilts while you are in labor especially when you pass the 7 cm mark (7-10 is the WORST). Keep your eyes open when you push. It will keep the pushing down where it needs to be, so your not merely tensing up every muscle in your body. It also helps you stay present and in control.
Hope that helps!
Heather, mom of four, labor length 4 hrs, 2 hrs, 1 1/2 hrs, and one hour. In that order.

Your chances are 50/50. I was due 10/10 and was just like you, 1cm dialated, no loss of my plug and I stayed that way until 10/17 when I was scheduled for an induction. Long story short the baby never dropped, I never dialated more and I had a c-section...delivered a 10+ lb. baby. Only God knows literally what will happen & when. Congrats & blessings to you!

Depends...Average first time pregnancy is 41 weeks 1 day, pregnancies with prior births average 40 weeks 3 days but you can safely go 2 weeks past that...I would wait, and not be too disappointed if that day comes & goes...Your body & baby will tell you when it is time!
Induction increases your risk of needing a c-section.
Having a c-section increses your risk of needing a blood transfusion or hysterectomy, and also increases your risk of infertility & ectopic pregnancy!

It's hard to know for certain. I was dialated to two and 80% effaced for 3 weeks before I gave birth. I was also 5 days past my due date when I actually delivered my son.

I think it is possible to have ur baby within the week but probably not on the 18th it can take a while to dilate without contractions

Maybe. You could suddenly dilate and go into labor or you could go past your due date. If you want to try some things try these:
hot showers
nipple stimulation
sex (lots)
walking
I wish you the best, you will be a mommy very soon!

Hi! My wife was due on January 14th, but she called me up on the 8th and we talked for 2 hours. After our talk, I conceded to her request (demand?) for chips and salsa. Hot salsa. Now, I'm not saying the two are related, but wifey is absolutely convinced...and our little boy was born on the 10th. Maybe you could try it, you know, in case there's something to it? Good luck, and I hope you have an easy delivery!
