volume of any square cube is equal to the side cubed(raised to the third power

note on notation: you can use a carat(sp) symbol to designate powers. for example s^3 means s cubed. this symbol is on the number 6 key of your keyboard.

now then your side is 5*x^2*y^3 there are two ways of doing this I will show you the easy way

V=s^3

V=(5*x^2*y^3)^3

now distribute the power, remember when you raise a power to a power you multiply the exponents together

V=5^3*x^(2*3)*y^(3*3)

V=125*x^6*y^9

For the side of the cube, you mean 5 * x^2 * y^3 (^ is "raising to the power", * is multiplication, to not confuse with x). The volume of a cube is the cube of the length of one side, so

volume = (5 * x^2 * y^3)^3 = 5^3 * x^(2*3) * y^(3*3) = 125 * x^6 * y^9

You should probably ask your teacher. I mean i kinda get what it is saying, but then again i dont know if I am accurate. So it's just better to tell your teacher for help ^o^.
