It is very simple to defeat the magnetic switch from triggering the alarm.
Have you ever tried to hold two magnets together when the poles are the same. They will push away from each other. This is how the magnetic switch works. when the two sides of the switch are in contact, the unwired side pushes the connector away from closing the circuit.
Simply pick up a small magnet at your hardware store or take one from your refrigerator. Place it against the wired contact on your door and tape in place. If this does not disarm the door, simply flip the magnet over and tape again. Only one side of the magnet will push, the other will pull.

It would be difficult. The magnet is on the door, and the switch is fixed to the sash, or some part of the door jam.
If you just want to open the door to let someone in, or to reach out and get the paper, you could mount a normally open push button switch on the door jam, and wire it in parallel with the door switch. You could hold the button as long as the door was open. Releasing it would put the door back in service.
You really should not do anything to jeopardize the integrity of the alarm system.

You don't have to cover the magnet at all.
When you set the alarm you should be able to set a bypass for whatever point you want. Check your instructions for setting the bypass. If you can't find it in the instructions call the company that installed it and they should be able to tell you how to set the bypass code.
Thats what I do on my system.
That way you just don't have that point on then you can open and shut that door all you want without tripping your alarm.

"masking" the magnet will allow the switch to open, which will defeat your purpose. In my opinion you should probably consult your security tech. You`re just setting yourself up ,along with a bunch of others, when a question like this is answered in this sort of forum.

unscrew the the magnet and just stick the magnet back on the security strip then you won't have to mask off. If the magnet is attached to the strip, alarm won't go off....

when the alarm is set you shouldn't be opening and closing doors. It defeats the purpose.
