The USA has never had an emperor, so there is no US imperialism.
The USA's power of influence in the world is being abused and consequently The US is losing its credibility...
However the US lost credibility and public support for the Vietnam war, and they recovered from that... the difference now is that there there is more international opposition to USA foreign policy than there was during the Cold War/Vietnam war.

First of all, please get your terms straight before you post and make a fool of yourself. Do you know what the word "imperialism" even means? Where in the world has America invaded a country involuntarily and permanently taken over their government for their own? The only times America has invaded a country is at the request of the people of the country who are threatened and are starving and are terrified of the existing government. We have always turned those governments over to the people once the situation is stabalized. That is by no means the definition of imperialism. ALL governments are corrupt to one degree or another. Right now, our own government is so corrupt we don't even know where our president was born. We don't know whether or not he even completed his education, or how he came from oblivion to become a do-nothing Senator (Over 90% of his votes were regeistered as "present"), and then to miraculoulsy become the president of the United States. It is always the president of America who ultimately decides what the foreign policy will be based on the best available information and the world situation at the time of the decision. At times there is no choice but to back the lesser of two evils. And there are times when the "lesser", over time, becomes the "major" evil. Times change, circumstances change. Please be more mindful of what you are suggesting by calling America an imperialist state and do some background work to discover the facts before you spout leftist dogma. Most of the world's problems are caused by people who don't bother to check the facts, they just absorb the propoganda from the people they believe in for no particular reason. There is no reasoning with these people and all they do is cause hate and discontent and strife wherever they go.

Imperialism means a country taking control or sovereignity of other countries.Control can be applied in force by military invasion like US to Iraq or by influencing other country's politics and economy. So I think Bush government is in the twilight of US imperialism.

It's funny how some people DENY U.S. Imperialism, it started ever since the Monroe doctrine was enacted, and still goes on today. I am not sure if Bush is that way, but it definitely seems like it!

I think its time to start up US imperialism again. Manifest Destiny. Let's start with Canada...Poof! Now you're a part of the US. Mexican...stay where you're at. Poof! Now you're American too. Costa Rica and Columbia and the rest of Central America you are now Los Greengos. The Caribbean too including CUBA welcome to the US. Let all get to work and start paying taxes. We now have 86 stars on the flag.

The answer is Cuban communism? C'mon. You can do better than that. When Fidel Castro dies, the whole facade will crumble.
The proof that Cuban communism is a failure, go to Miami, every Cuban wants to.

I would compare it more to the twilight zone.
By the way, their are too many nuke carrying countries for anyone to be an imperialist these days.
