You need to know the basics: Microsoft Word, Outlook and perhaps Excel. If the job is more than just answering phones, you may need to know Microsoft Powerpoint.

You also need to have a practical knowledge of Windows and be able to navigate around the computer. Temp services such as Kelly Services offer training for free but if you google free excel training.. microsoft.com has a bunch of free online classes (small ones so you don't get bored) on all office products.

as a receptionist I would think that you will need at least intermediate to advanced word processing skills, possibly spreadsheets and databases. It will also require knowledge of email software.

Of course depending on the company there may be more they may require.

Outlook, PowerPoint, excel, word are what they are referring to. Also any other programs you may have had experience with that can be a transferable skill.

If you have any computer knowledge, all you have to put on your resume is "Computer Literate". They will teach you how and what to put into the computer as pertains to their business.

If you don't have basic computer knowledge, the library offers a course for beginners free of charge.
