I do not believe that to be true in the least. First of all Gandhi fought hard with Hindu and Muslim leaders to keep India from partition. It was his greatest wish after independence to see a united India at peace with itself.

He was NEVER "India's leader!" Nehru was the leader of Hindu India and Jinnah the leader of Muslim Pakistan. It was Jinnah who ultimately made the final decision for partition. Gandhi opposed it till his death. (one of the causes of his death was his ongoing friendship with the Muslims and with Pakistan.)

India and Pakistan may in the future make some sort of "union" similar to the EU (and probably including Bengla Desh, a semi-independent Kashmir, Sri Lanka and Nepal,) but that will have to wait until the terrible religious tensions in our world decrease significantly, I would think.......

I don't see why the Muslim's (Pakistan) would what any union that would make them the minority unless they could obtain some sort of suzerainty over the various Hindi groups. On the other hand I don't the other side(s) would be interested in that. Expect two India's for the foreseeable future. Germany which was forced apart kicking and screaming was a nation with very little cleavage between themselves its not a similar scenario at all. As far as the nation not being divided under Netaji I don't know the answer to that but I can't see a united India as all advantages of a thing.

A very interesting question.
You've also got to remember the role of Jinnah the founder of Pakistan.
As in Yugoslavia, the West, or here the British, were taken in by this "ancient hatreds" talk. On the other hand, once ethnic conflict starts, it can spread with great speed and be very difficult to stop.
If the country were to reunite, India would have the burden of former Pakistan and Bangladesh. Do you want that?

You are right about the separation and Gandhi but it is apparent that they were at war within and the only way to solve the differences between them was to separate. Unlike Germany, they were separated to devoid the criminal activities to start up again against humanity.

there is not any common thank you to describe this, yet i wish this facilitates. India is the two - a punya bhoomi & a karma bhoomi. A punya bhoomi because of the fact of its numerous history , cultural variety & tolerance. you will not discover assorted religions, languages and so on. co- present day in unity everywhere else. India is likewise the land of large human beings like Vivekananda & Gandhiji. Karma bhoomi is a land the place you discharge your responsibilities. for this reason, human beings doing their rightful responsibilities in India, can call her their Karma bhoomi.
