I do work. I'm responsible and go to work 5 days a week and put in good work. But I don't like working for its own sake. This covers all work. Housework, work work, homework; I don't like being forced to do things I don't want to.

So, if I work according to what's necessary to live, but don't get much out of the process, does this mean I have poor character?

as long as you provide for yourself, and are not leeching off somebody else, you're fine with me.

No, I don't think that it means that. You are being responsible and doing what you must, regardless that you don't enjoy it. What you have to start thinking about is what you might want to do with your time that can also make you money. The trick is finding the right combination. Another thing is that you shouldn't be working "for its own sake"... work is supposed to bring some results... THAT's what your working for.

The thing is you have to know the meaning of life and how to apply ones work. Everyone is working in some way or another. But if you know how to apply your work then you will be blissful no matter what your work. It is best to find a job or career you like and are good at. go to harekrishnatemple. for understanding of our purpose in life. Read Bhagavad Gita As it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada Your consciousness is more important than what you do and that can make you or break you.

when you say being forced- are you really being forced? you could choose to sit on your *** and not go to work or school or whatever but where is hat going to leave you. you dod what you do b/c its what needs to be done, and that my friend is called life. sometimes you do things you don't necessarily like to do b/c you are striving for a better day. stop thinking about how much you don't like to do that stuff and start thinking about what you're going to do to not have to work as much or how you can pay someone else to clean for you, i don't think you have a character issue b/c there are alot of people who feel the same way you do --

Nope, you're not bad - just honest!

What you are NOT is in your niche. You haven't found THE thing that you are most suited for. Find someone who offers the Myers/Briggs personality test (or another good one) and it will give you insight into what you would most like to do as a vocation. Once you've found it, your love ones will have to call you and remind you that it's time to come home for dinner. Good luck!!

I hate work too. I wish I could spend more time with my kid and family and doing all the things I plan to do but never actually do. I would rather work enough to get by than work 60hour weeks and make more $$ but never see my kid and family. No its not poor character, its just setting your priorities and doing what YOU want.

Tough question. The keyword is laziness. As long as you're not too lazy to work is the question. As long as you go to work and don't except a free handout from the government or anyone else is okay. Many people don't like to work.

The key is finding the work you love - then it isn't work any more. It is difficult, but it can be done.

For the record, I hate the work I do to make a living - well, most of the time. But I do it anyway.

No, you may have a wonderful character. But, you will always be poor. If that is not problem for you, it certainly is no problem for the rest of us, as long as we don't have to pay for your lack of ambition. So, keep on doing what you are doing as long as you are happy with it.

But, you may also want to think about the things you want to do. Surely, they can't involve very much effort?
