I'm a hospital nurse, and I only work three nights per week - 36 hours. Every now and then I pick up an extra day, but usually it's just three in a row, and then a four day weekend. Paycheck is not the highest in the world, but it's enough to pay the bills and put food on the table (and have a little fun), and you can't really beat the hours.

If you want to be happy, you will pick a career based on your desires and not on potential earnings. I doubt that there is a field out there where there are not well-paid individuals. 99% of the highest paid in each field will be doing what they love.

Also, be careful following the hot careers as you enter college. By the time you leave, as you and thousands of others graduate with the "hot" degrees, it may not be hot. (Oops!)
