you have to distribute a^1/2 to (a^3/2 - 2a^1/2)

(a^1/2 * a^3/2) - (a^ 1/2 * -2a^1/2)

basically, when you multipy, you will simply add the exponents, so..

(a^ 4/2) - (2a^ 2/2)

simplify...

a^2 - 2a

and you have your answer.. = a^2 - 2a

First you 2 1/2 from 1 1/2, which equals -1. Then you make -1 into -2/2 and times 1/2 and it equals -2/4. Simplify it to get -1/2. I'm only guessing.

a^2-2a

1/2+3/2 = 4/2 = 2, hence a^2
1/2+1/2 = 2/2 = 1, hence a in 2a
