O-kay... So... I'm fourteen, almost fifteen, and I have really leniant parents. They give me a lot of freedom, but restrict me from this one thing. My mom won't let me buy any video games that allow you to kill human beings in it.

She's not super strict about it, though. She trusts me not to go and get them on my own, which I won't, and she doesn't start rummaging through all my games or some crap looking for 'em. She just tells me not to, and expects me to listen. She also lets me get games that involve you killing things that aren't human, such as Resident Evil and stuff.

So, anyway, I was just wonderin' if you guys could help me out, and give me some advice on how to convince her to let me play these kind of games.
Thanks!
--Rebop

((P.S.: Assassin's Creed is pretty much what made me wanna go against this enough to argue with her, if that's important. xP))

the best way i would say is to prove to her that you know they are virtual reality, and that you are mature enough to play them without having thoughts about killing people. and im not familiar with assassins creed, i play counterstrike.

why do you have to have a video game that kills humans? Are you excited about being able to kill humans (even though it's a video game)? You can't play other games like car racing, or some other strategy games instead of using different guns and figure out how to kill people? You already said that you have pretty "lenient" parents, which is a blessing in my opinion. Your mom asks you only 1 thing, ONE THING, which is to not play video games that kills humans, you can't compromise with her on that? I know that it's just video games, but to think about how these video games originated - wars, battles, terrorism, it's just not right for video game producers to glorify violence. I hope that you can just compromise with your mom on this one issue. When you are a little bit older, I hope you understand that violence is not a game or a laughing matter. Just as the other poster said, just turn on the TV and watch the killing unfold in the Middle East, it's not funny.

Maybe try only purchasing games that give you the role as a cop or special forces. games like Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Tomb Raider, or any of the army games involve you to be for the good guys, so to speak. I would use that for your arguement. Stay away from Grand Theft Auto, Hitman, or the Godfather. Basically your mafia/gang style games.
