Lives in India are crappy and its a hell hole. Anything, such as really over the top movies or large media events, which let smelly blackies live vicariously and out of their squallor for just a while sells. The media will push anything which sells. The short answer to your question? Willing buyer, willing seller.

EXCUSE ME?!?!?! But the UK and USA media is just as full of junk. Can I call to people's attention the media circus surrounding the Beckhams I mean honestly, are they really that interesting? Also the media fracas that surrounds celebs' sizes, diets, fashion/wardrobe...? EVERYONE has a voyeuristic side to them, we all want to know how the otherside live.

Such junks are there in non-Indian media also. But it remains as a news. They do not celebrate the occasion as Indian media do. Indians are good in worshiping individuals whether it is Sonia Gandhi or Amitabh Bachhan.
