The only treadmills I've ever seen have had to be plugged in, although a battery operated one is a great idea. Think of where you could then place it for further inspiration instead of inside.

It's hard to imagine a treadmill that was designed to run on battery/batteries. All I've seen (in the U.S.) run on house voltage (110-120 VAC).

They are either motor-driven from line power (an outlet) or they are driven by the walker on the tread, using a tightening belt to add resistance.
