People who think the Earth is 6000 years old despite the scientific proof to the contrary are like people who believe the Earth is flat. But if their belief is based on religion, then you have to ask whether or not people who are X degree of religious are mentally ill. Some of them are. But people can also be conditioned into believing things - especially children. For example, a child can be taught to believe that X race of people are inferior. But we don't generally say that all racists are mentally ill. If that were true, then most people would be mentally ill. A person can be irrational without being mentally ill.

How old do you think the earth is, and cite your proof.

You can post theory after theory as to how old the earth is, showing inaccurate dating methods, and fossils that have been under pressure for thousands of years, but you cannot PROVE how old the earth is. So the fact that science has changed it's mind on the age of the earth more times than Kerry changes position on the War, who's the mentally ill ones now?

Anyone who believes the Earth to be 6000 years old has been taught what to think, not how to think.

That doesn't mean they are or are not mentally ill.

No, it's not fair to assume either of those things. It's not mental illness and it has nothing to do with religion. It's simply a lack of information or education.

The Bible says it is......but I really do not think any human actually knows for sure how old the Earth is, carbon dating has proved to be wrong at times, every 40 or 50 years the scenario changes.

Mis-informed maybe, but not mentally ill. Mental illness is a medical condition. You shouldn't use the term so lightly and freely.
