I'll tell you a little story, something that happened to me.
As a High School student I played the drums (In a rock n roll band) and at learning center I was given the opportunity to give lessons to other students. One student of witch was from a rival School (Harding Vs.Johnson) and cloud not play the easiest song I know how to play, Brown Sugar by the Stones. He claimed he always wanted to play the drums. I asked in a nice way "was there any other instrument you'd like to try and learn to play?".
This guy reported me to the staff and they ask what happened.
I told them I tried my best to work with him but he is not coordinated, no timing what so ever. You try for yourself and if I am lying I'll leave the program.
I finished the Music Program with an A plus and a letter of recommendation.

It really depends most upon what you enjoy playing. I played marching snare for 3 years, and I sucked at it because I hated practicing. I started playing the guitar later, and I progressed much faster because it was something that I really enjoyed spending time doing. So, the most important thing is to find the instrument that you will want to play and want to get better at.

I think the guitar is a good instrument. It is easy to carry and you can play it at other times like parties and family get togethers.Or just when you feel like it.

I'm a pianist, but that instrument is far from perfect. In my opinion, the most expressive musical instrument is the human voice.

The Tuba (not the Sousaphone) is a very gentle instrument to learn on despite it's size. Gentle to listen to a learner, that is. OOmpa oompa. No blaring or screeching, No reed to suck on.

I would start with flute or sax.(tenor) they have similar fingerings. You can go to a music shop and try handling a couple of different types of interment, go with the one that you are comfortable with.
