No it's not too much sleep, it's pretty much what is recommended for children that age. And generally, if they're happy and alert during the day, then you need to trust what their bodies are asking for. Some children might need more or less, but if that seems to be the right amount for yours then go with what works.

That is actually what APA reccomends for children that age. My 8 year old goes to bed at 8pm and wakes at about 8-830am. She has had this bedtime since she was a baby. My 17 month old sleeps from 730pm until 930am (unless I wake her before then to go to work).

Unless they're sleeping that amount AND being lethargic and tired throughout the day, there's no such thing as too much sleep in young children. They really do need a lot. Sleep is when the body repairs itself and does it's growing. Sometimes, children will go to sleep and wake up 2 inches taller! Talk about a growth spurt!

they are sleeping for 11 hours at a time.. do they take naps? i don't think they are really sleeping to much, but at the end of the day they might be exhausted because of how much sleep they had or what they did for the day. consider yourself lucky that they sleep that much gives you a little extra alone time.

no children in that range can even benefit from getting more sleep. sleep is something that you shouldnt worry about unless they are sleeping all day and every day, other wise dont worry. they could just be really tired and crave the sleep.

9-7 would be a better time.ten hours because if you put them in too early they might be playing or prancing aroung in their bedroom instead of sleeping
