I have found that there are 2 automatics listed under this yr. The E40D and the 4R100. Both say there 4 speed auto with O/D. I need to know if either one is a 5 speed. I counting 4 shifts. A total of 5 speeds. I know the AOD is a 4 speed auto overdrive. And its a real 4 speed. Is it possible the previsious owner put in a newer 5 speed? Or is either of the stock transmissions a 5 speed? I would ask the previsous owner but thats not a possitibility anymore. I just want to find out before I send it to the tranny shop to have the shift kit removed.

Is the shift kit causing problems? Neither of those trans is a 5-spd, only 4 forward gears in them. What you are most likely feeling is 4 gear changes and then the torque converter clutch locking up. It feels like a light shift, and the rpm's will drop about 300 rpm.
