My husband and I went away for a while, and he swore he made sure to throw away anything that would go bad in the fridge while we were gone. Well, low and behold, we come back and the fridge smells AWFUL! Turns out he left raw chicken breast in the bottom of it... I won't even open it now, because I can't stand the smell. I even went so far as to buy one of those citrus-scented deodorizers that suck up the smells, made for a whole house, and put it in there. How, now the fridge smells like an rotten lemony-orange chicken, and that thing is totally defunct. Any ideas for (hopefully quick!) deodorizing of my fridge???

Empty the fridge and wear rubber gloves. { Amask may help} Don't think I am crazy but clean all surfaces withh bleach and water. Than rewash with vinegar. Spray with Lysol disinfected spray including gaskets amd let dry. Once again wash it with baking soda. Should do it. Vinagar and baking soda both rid oder. Spraying gaskets I do routinely to prevent molds. I hav a lifetime of experience in Foodservice. Good Luck and don't do that again. I am sure you won't.

Try making a paste with water and baking soda and after cleaning out and defrosting the fridge smear the past on and leave it on for a few hours then thoroughly clean off the paste and if the paste doesn't work try a strong bleach and water mixture and rinse well with water. And if that doesn't work punish hubby buy making him go fridge shopping on his day off. Good-luck.

Wash the whole fridge down with disinfectant and put a box of baking soda inside. This takes up most of the odors.

Get you a mixture of water and clorox, preferrably the scented kind and wipe and wash down everything. You may want to throw out the butter and any other food that the smell may have gotten into. Once your disinfected with clorox/purex, place a box of baking soda in it and watch it work!! Good Luck!!

scrub the inside with baking soda and stick a fresh box of baking soda in the fridge. That should do that job.

first take out the dead chicken, then unplug and defrost the fridge. then using a STRONG bleach solution, scrub the fridge and freezer, and let air for a day. if it still stinks, scrub it again, then air.
that should do it.

wipe it out with vinegar & water solution, then let it air out..... the vinegar smell will dissipate.

I cleaned a freezer that was filled with spoiled food after a power outage... tried everything... vinegar & water did the trick

Be Blessed!
