There are several different things that cause rectal bleeding. If the blood is bright red, and you aren't passing out right now, it's likely that the source is in the lower gi. For a young person, the most likely culprit is hemorrhoids. You may have a lot of blood, usually covering the outside of the stool and on toilet paper. Other possibilities include diverticulosis, ischemic colitis, colon polyps, infective colitis, ulcerative colitis, and colon cancer. See your doctor immediately for an exam. If they rule out hemorrhoids as the source, you will likely need a colonoscopy to determine the source of the bleeding.

If it was a lot of blood and no pain It could be polyps, get it checked out. If they suspect them they perform a routine colonoscopy and remove them at the same time. Once you get them they May reoccur every couple years.
Ask your family members it is sometimes hereditary.
They are quite common but still may be a serous problem if not removed for an extended amount of time.

Sounds like you may have a GI bleed depends on what color the blood is if its dark and tarry looking defently, if its bright red maybe. Get it checked out right away because you could be losing a lot of blood and that can cause a lot of other problems. go to a gastroenterologist
