I am 27 years old and 18W 1D pregnant with a little girl. I have had some random bleeding and spotting through the pregnancy which has made me really nervous, but baby continues to look good.

At my 18 week detailed ultrasound today the tech found choroid plexus cysts in the baby's brain that are markers for Trisomy 18. I don't think they found any other markers. The Dr said that these cysts occur in 1-2% of pregnancies and usually the babies are ok....but I am so scared!

My Triple Scan results were great and showed lower than average risks of chromosomal problems.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

My son also had them... along with a dilated kidney. Our AFP test came back okay, but we were really worried too. We had a second high level ultrasound about a week after they found the cysts & the kidney thing... The cysts were almost completely gone & the kidney thing was resolving itself!!! Unless you had bad test results like the AFP or other markers, I wouldn't worry. Just pray & keep taking care of yourself. Those cysts sound scary, but they actually occur more than they say, with little or no risk of genetic defects!!!
