The legend of Atlantis has been linked to San Torini a sparkling civilization in the Mediterranean. In 1600.BC the world's largest eruption occurred which caused the volcano to blow off it's top destroying San Torini. Huge waves (tsunami) came in to claim the area where San Torini once stood. Sailers passing by in later centuries told of a city that sank under the sea since it was no longer where it should be. Thus began the legend of Atlantis.

I actually believe 8and hope) it existed, but was exaggerated by myth and whatnot, visit wikipedia and look for Atlantis, you'll find some info about dicoveries that may prove Atlantis actually existed (such as the bimini road). Also, look for Edgar cayce and what he said about it, it's really cool
Even if iAtlantis doesn't/didn't exist it is a really interesting, subject, huh?
