I've had it before....
Do you sleep with your arm up under your pillow or something?
It puts your arm, especially your shoulder, in an unnatural position...plus I imagine the weight of your head rests on your shoulders as well....doesn't seem like much, but over the course of a good nights sleep, it can become very painful!
Try putting your arm in a different position when you go to sleep.
Good Luck!

You could have a pinched nerve due to repetitive type motion you do during either your day job (such as typing) or at night on your computer. This could be the early stages of carpel tunnel syndrome. It will also cause part of your hand or arm to feel numb. If it is arthritis, you'll notice swelling with the pain.

could be bursitis which is an imflamation of the capsule around the joint. I just finished 2 weeks of naproxyn for bursitis in my hip. it was the same at bedtime and in the morning i noticed it the most, with some weakness during the day. see your Dr

I work with an older gentleman (early 40's) who had the same symptoms. It turned out to be arthritis and he had to have reconstructive surgery. I would get it checked out right away. He said he could never get any sleep because of the pain.

is it right or left? because if its left it could have some reason connected to the heart. You might have pulled a muscle or it could be inflamed. When this happens sometimes it only hurts when in a certain angle good luck
