Okay so, It has been proven that some video games relase indorfins that literally cause you to be addicted. What you need to do is step in and basiclly take it away. Your his friend so even if he is mad, in the end he will thank you. Un plug his computer and take the game. Take it a step farther and get his girlfriend over there (well after the game is taken into coustody) and cook them a nice dinner (take out is fine to if you don't cook) just get them alone! Good Luck

Advise him to get on Yahoo Answers instead...it will control his life and seem like a drug, his girlfriend will probably kill him and he will barely talk to his friends still...but at least he will be better informed and have SOME semblance of a social "life". Just kidding - sorry but I thought it would be easier if you could laugh a little - not sure if there is anything you CAN do...other than recommending therapy or a 12 step program, which he probably won't do anyway. Have you tried addressing this with his parents? If his girlfriend can't get through to him, that might work.

Get some new friends. I'm serious. I had a good friend for 5 years. We used to hang out all the time. Then he got totally irresponsible and played World of Warcraft constantly. He lived down the street. I'd be like "Hey you wanna go out somewhere to eat?" and he'd agree. I'd go over there and I'm like let's go. And he's like just a moment. Then 15 minutes later he'd come down and he'd be like okay let's go. But then someone would call and he'd have to go back to do something on his account. Crappy story. Point is though, he's not gonna change back. Ditch him and get some better friends who have a life.

Same thing happened to my fiances best friend for about a year he was a hermit playing computer games all the time. I guess he finally got sick of having sex with his hand and decided to out with us more to meet people. Now he has a girl who likes playing vidoe games on the computer too but they still make time for one another and their friends. They have found a healthy medium.

yuou can't make him stop... just wait 'til he drops unconscious due to lack of sleep or until he realizes that what he is doing is excessive.. i've been addicted to online RPGs before.. Khan Online and MU online.. and yes... like him i spent all my time in it until my guy made me realize that what i'm doing was childish (God, i was 17 then and i'm playing computer games!? duh!)... so i quit it myself.. though i had to stop seeing a single speck of computer technology for months....

Haha, he sounds like that fat dude in that one south park episode. have an employee constantly kill him, you constantly kill him, have his girlfriend constantly kill him, or steal his internet connection.
