I was always made fun of when I was younger and still to this day I am made fun of. I am 16 yrs old and I have no confidence in myself because I'm always afraid people will make fun of because I have experience it before. I want to show the kids who still make fun of me that there is more to me than meets the eye.

I've noticed people on here seem to be no different than the kids you are referring to. I can tell you that when dealing with people like this even if you show confidence or intelligence, they will taunt you out of jealousy or low self esteem.
personally, I enjoy jabbing back at them because, just as we all had to stand up to the schoolyard bully, so will you have to stand up for yourself all through life!
remember though, that true confidence means you do not need or crave approval from the masses. be true to yourself. be courageous. by these actions alone you will have proved that there IS more to you than meets the eye.

...or, you could buy a sports car and get a hot girlfriend. that's what grown-ups do.....lol.

The first step to building confidence, in my opinion, is finding out what you truly want. Over the next week, whenever you feel down, depressed, insecure, or frustrated, start making a list of all the things you want. They can be little things, like, "I want a glass of water" or big things, like "I want to ride around the entire world in a hot air baloon." Just write down everything and don't censor yourself. Then after a week, and even throughout the week, look at the list and decide which of those things you can do something about. Then start doing it! Some of the things might require little steps first, but if you really want it, then you can do it. As you start seeing that you can do things that make you happy, your confidence will grow!

This may seem kind of roundabout and like it won't immediately solve your problmes, but really it's one of the best things you can do. It's not really a quick fix, but it will have lifelong results. Good luck!

First of all, realize that just by getting through all of that as a sane person is an achievement in itself! Good job!

Secondly, just try to be yourself. If you pretend to be something you're not, then you'll lose yourself in the mix.

Thirdly, find something that appeals to you. Whether it be a sport, a martial arts class, an arts class, joining a religious group (if you're religious), doing a community activity, whatever you do, make sure you enjoy it. Through things like this, you will meet people who will accept you for who you are and not put you down.

Fourthly, though it seems corny, do something to make yourself FEEL confident. Buy a new shirt, give yourself a manicure, or just tell yourself in the mirror every morning and evening that you are awesome because you are unique.

Lastly, take pride in your achievements, no matter how small you may think they are. I took pride in myself today for FINALLY cleaning off my desk. It worked for me, and THAT is what matters. Even if it's something as simple as keeping yourself organized, cleaning your room, or making a really great cake-from-a-box, if you can take some bit of pride in your achievements, then that is the biggest boost you can give yourself.

If you want to show them that you're better, then don't show them that it bothers you.

You'll never be able to control what people say or think so you have to make yourself stronger by forgetting about it. Who cares what they think? What do YOU really think about them?

The people who make fun of people usually do it because they are jealous or they feel inferior to you. So, in all actuality they know how great you are and how ungreat they are and they can't take it.

Good luck

i detect that's as chatting with your self is the most wise communique you could ever have. with information from chatting with your self you construct a rapport (bond) with your self, you'll finally end up understanding your self better and your self belief in putting out conversations will develop. besides the actual incontrovertible fact that because it has worked on human beings would not inevitably propose it is going to offer you the outcomes you want yet that would not propose it received't both so all i'm able to assert is basically supply it a attempt because the purely human being to be certain if it somewhat works is you.

I'm 33 and have the same question.. but it's one worth answering for yourself... For me, I find confidence in activities I'm passionate about... working with kids... drumming... my relationship with my boyfriend and friends.... The more passionate I am about something the more I find I work to be better at it.. and the better I become... I gave up trying activities to impress others long ago, it's a self-esteem killer... Trust in yoursel;f, do what makes you happy, and be true to yourself... I think that's how we get there...

You are empowering the people that make fun of you.

You should go about and do whatever it is that is of interest to you and pay no attention to others. Let them do their own deal.

You gain confidence in yourself by accomplishing things and being successful in them. Start with small goals. Achieve them. Then chase bigger dreams.

Being made fun of, shouldn't hurt your confidence. >_>

You can try martial arts, or try many things, and see what you're good at. You can also draw, or write, or even make good jokes.

And you should show that you can get angry sometimes too.
