would a honda accord v6 be a good car for a 17 year old?

i was looking at some accords with a v6 and i was wondering how reliable the car is looking from 00 and newer. I also was wondering how many miles i could get one to last with proper maintance but going to higher rpm's during accerlation and racing?? If you could help in any way you would be amazing

Wekk the engine are prettty bullit proof but the transmission will not handle the loads of racing and hard acceleration more than 50,000 miles or so. But Honda has an extenion of warranty on the transmissions for 8 years and 109,000 miles which ever comes first.

Yes it woud -- my ex and I had a used car lot for over 10 yrs. so I've seen a LOT of different cars and as far as repair, maintenance, reliability, gas mileage, performance goes, you can't go wrong with a Honda and Accords in particular. Also, the resale value stays up there better than other cars. Just make sure you check it out thoroughly - you might want to get the vin number or license plate number and run it through online to make sure it hasn't been in any major wrecks and get a history on it --- number of owners, cities/states it's been registered in, whether it's been labeled a "gross polluter" because of a failed smog in the past, etc..

Honda is a very dependable car, very reccomendable, not only should he like it now, he should like it for a long time coming(keep from wanting to buy again).. Maintenance wise, hondas can't get away from having to replace the cv axles and be sure to replace that timing belt before your scheduled time probably around 90k or catasrophic damage may occur.
As far as racing goes, you pay to play. Meaning you pay to race the car, then you pay again to fix the car after racing, even street racing, so don't get the 3000$ rims & 300$ each tires. hit the curb once and POOF ther goes 1000$. Being age 17 keep the parts somewhat disposable.

do this and ur car will last so long that u will wish is die to buy new car is
wash everyweek insert intercoolant every week or so if is run out every 7 day or checks...change oil every 3k event honda dealler recomment 5k but 3k is the best time...alignment steering and check on tire and bell and change air filter every 15k......do a best service 381 dollar tune up on ur honda v6 every 30 k.....and at 60 k do the fluid check....a 60k service...and clean the engine for dirt inside the engine...at 60k...and at 90k change the timing belt and the drive belt, and the steering power belt.....and u should go way over 200k with that....is a order to keep ur car very very well maintaing..and my car is 47 k 01 accors and i just done 381 tune up and a check tire and everything..u well wish ur car 2 break down ahh

You can try Honda Accord 2.0 V-tec Y2k. I'm driving that when I was 17 teen. It feel more "real" than the V6. Erm... what I'm trying to say is you can feel the road condition from the stirring when driving it. Get use to the V-tec. I'm having a lot of fun with my Accord. Now, I'm fixing a H22A For my Accord. Hondas are very reliable and last for quite awhile if maintained well. you could easily get over 200,000 miles out of one, hondas are good quality, and an accord is not too flashy of a model but still looks good-- i think its a great car for a 17 year old

For Sure. I wouldnt get a kid a nice car as there first cause it is proven that 97% of 16-17 y/o will have a wreck. So I would get them something that is somewhat cheap and reliable.

v6's are very powerful. with scheduled maintence, it should easier go more than 200k stated above. my uncle has a 2000 accord v6 with 115k miles on it, runs like new. he's also a mechanic, so make sure youre car is up to date with maintenence
