Have you ever heard of a lighter exploding whilelighting a cigarette . ?

my son just got out of hosp. w/ 1st and 2nd degree burns to face from a lighter exploding in his face.

yes i've heard of it happening, if it is not a safety lighter the thumb latch could be depressed and release gas that is explosive safety lighters are just that.........safer

It probably had a defective part. I hope you contacted the company and made them pay the hospital bill. Hecould have been blinded.
