Tell them, that if you had a cell phone, they can always get a hold of you, whether you are out late past curfew or in a place you shouldn't be.

It depends on your age. For my children, I wouldn't let you have a cell phone until you had a job to pay for it on your own which would probably be 16 years old.

Maybe you could tell them you'll pay the bill or work for it by doing odd jobs around the house.

Cell phones aren't cheap, even on family plans they can add up if minutes are used irresponsibly.

I am a mother and my got my daughter a cell phone at age 9. My daughter conviced me by writing an essay. You might think an Essay..ugh..but i am pretty sure it will work. Don't make it a boring essay. Make it well written. Also include benifits of having a cell phone and responsibilitys. Also try to act resonsible. Good Luck!

Tell them that Cingular has a phone called the Firefly, it only holds 3 numbers.. you can't dial anywhere but those 3 numbers for instance, 911 - home - parents cell phone... start there, and earn their trust for a go-phone (prepaid)..

I would tell your parents to get you a prepaid cell phone. That way, you wont rack up a phone bill. Also, make sure you dont take it to school or if you do, keep it off or on vibrate. Parents are worried that it will be taken away and have to drive to pick it up.

1. Figure out why they don't trust you.
2. Change that.
3. Grow up a little (They might not think you are mature enough)
4. Get a job to help pay for it.
Good Luck!

Save up your allowance and get your own pay as you go. For a couple thousand years kids went without cell phones including myself and I turned out fine.

Ask for the prepaid phone, and convince them to let you do things around the house to earn money for minutes. Then it really would be to their benefit. They would be able to reach you anytime they need you, and you would be doing extra things to help out around the house!

Research pre-paid plans and share what you learn with them. Also highlight the safety issues of having a phone; they can come in very handy in an emergency.

Explain to them that they are necessary if you would need to reach them, the police or an ambulance in case of an emergency. Cell phones save lives...and for the minimal cost...I think everyone should have them if only for emergencies
