i just went to india and there there was a small boy about 3-4 years old at a sweetshop i was at. he was very poor and was on his underwear. as i was at the sweetshop he gave the guy at he counter 2 cents and asked for aa sweet. yuo can't get anything for less than 4 dollars there. he stared at the sweets and started to look at them longingly. i bought him all types of sweets, and he took them away gleefully. his mother was shocked and ran upto me withi tears in her eyes. she started to cry. i felt sad at their plight and i bought them all somem groceries, clothes and other household needs from my pocket money. now all my friends and family started to scold me lecture me at why i did that. i don't know if what i did was right!!!!!!!!but it is MY pocket money. not theirs!

Though they might have worried about the bad intentions of others in a foreign country (nothing against India, all people from all countries worry a little when they enter a different country than their own!), what you did was right on a human level.
If my friends acted like that, though, I'd find some new friends. True you can't really disown your family (they're always your family whether you see them or not), but why have friends that don't place the same value on human life that you do?
Kudos to you!

That is very nice. It was deffinetly the right thing to do. Your friends and family may just not have a giving soul that you seem to have. It's like when I am in the car and I see a homeless person, I want to give them some type of food or something but my parents just ignore them. Some people just don't get it, but if it made you feel good to see those people be happy at something you did for them, nothing is wrong with that.

you definitely did the right thing. It is never wrong to help someone that is less fortunate than you. And there is nothing wrong with being compassionate towards our fellow man that is the only thing that makes this world a decent place to live in. I think maybe your family was worried the others in the same plight would see this and want you to help them to or that these unfortunate people would try to harm you, I'm sure they were only worried about your safety. YOU ROCK

I think your family and friends are thinking what I'm thinking. They saw you coming from a mile away. American = money. Put on your saddest face. It was a scam. I totally think that they played you but they probibly did need the groceries, it's just the way they went about getting them that's wrong.

Don't ever change.
The world needs more people like you.
That child will remember you for the rest of his life...as you will him. Anyone that scolded you will probably not be in anyone's mind for anything good they did for anyone.
Like I said before, don't ever change. You're a wonderful person and you are above the scolding you got.

I think that you did the right thing. They were probably just worried about you being safe with strangers in India.
PS: I have nothing against India
