I think they just show how artificial "femininity" can be. They demonstrate that there's more to being a woman than makeup and a dress.

Great question! I've known both. The drag queens that have found their niche in the community and have a purpose are witty and entertaining while the ones that just party and go out in drag are the crazy, washed up old hags and crave attention from anyone who will look. There is nothing worse than nursing a friend/drag queen in his own vomit from taking too many pills... How sad is that. Then the stupid un grateful b-itch goes out and keeps doing it... There is nothing sadder than an old tired drag queen-hag...

i don't really understand the motive of the drag queen concept.
i understand the concept of TVs, and i certainly understand the concept of Transgender and Transsexual.
i think the entertainment side of the arguement is that Drag Queens are taking a crack or a shot at society.. it can be really humourous to some to see a person buck society.
but at the same time, i don't think these people realize that they may also be seen as making a mockery out of true TVs, transsexuals, and transgendered people...
not sure if all drag queens are seeking attention, or if they are just trying to show off their humourous side..
in my case, when the time comes for me to totally present myself to the world as a woman, it will certainly not be about entertainment or attention getting.. it will simply be me finally "being my true self"

Witty, entertaining form of gender-illusion, most definitely!
They can be the other one, too, but I think a good majority of them are truly brilliant people.

I think there's a little bit of everything amongst drag queens. There are some drag queens who are really beautiful and who look just like women. And then there are some who are just an embarrassment.

To me...most are dull, witt-less Franken-chicks who should be slapped for even THINKING about "performing" but then...there are that rare few...who don't take themselves to serious and have fun with it...then we all do too.

sometimes both, some just wanna get in the spot light and be on the map, others just do it for the fun and sole reason of making people laugh and to entertain, its in there blood.

well, my partner and I and a bunch of our friends all love a good drag show. some may be tackier than others, some might not be as good as others, but we find them entertaining and fun.

i was watching some one day at this "concert" type thing... and someone yelled "GET OFF"
She yells back, yeah i'll get off..... on your face.
it was a crack up and she was so quick witted. i actually really enjoyed watching that, and never ever thought i would have.
