Being very active and athletic can definitely cause your period to begin later. However, I don't really know the reason why. I was a chubby kid and I started my period at 11, but my sister is very slim and athletic (plays basketball, softball, and runs track) and she didn't start until she was 16. Experts generally concur that your menstrual cycle will start within 2 years of ending your growth spurt and starting to develop breasts. For example, if you grew alot the year before last, but your height hasn't changed that much in the past year, then it can happen anytime. Try not to impatient ... it will be here before you know it.

It is common for girls with less body fat percentage to get their periods later. I bet if you stopped playing tennis for a few months, it would start. But trust me, you're not missing anything, lol. I would count my blessings if I were you. If you stop tennis for a while and still dont get it I would see a gyno, but unless you're really really paranoid, or have a reason to think it might be some other medical problem, I wouldnt worry about it.

I knew people who didn't get their periods until age 14 or even 15. It happens. Being athletic and active can have an effect. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you, although if you don't get it within 1 or 2 more years, you should probably talk to a doctor about it.

That is left to your body to answer. Nobody can predict when a girl gets her first period. It only happens when the body is ready.
Your playing tennis has nothing to do with it.
Usually girls get their first period when they are 14-16 years of age, but i've known some girls who got their first period even at 19 years.. So dont worry

Don't worry my aunt was 17 before she started her period. Often when you are very active delays your cycle from starting.
People with less body fat seem to start later, and that is okay. You will see once you start that you probably would not mind waiting even longer, there are cramps, headaches, bloating, not to mention all the beautiful clothes we stain when we have heavy flow. Right now you have so many hormones that are running through your body to prepare you for adulthood. Relax and enjoy those teenage years, they go by so fast!

YES!! Though I began my menstrual cycle when I was 11. It would often stop for periods of 3-6 months because I was involved in gymnastics and cheerleading. I know that you want to experience the novelty of it and growing up, but trust me this is a time of your life to enjoy. There are reasons that it is called the curse, lol. Enjoy your freedom while you have it.

everyone starts at different times. some start at 9 years old some start later like 14. I got mine at 13 on halloween. so it could come later this year. Being active could be part of the reason why you don't have it. but your body will be ready when it feels its ready.

Yeah every woman is different when she gets her period. Since you are an athlete, that may contribute to the reason it hasn't come yet. My mother's friend got her period after college! [I wish that happened to me] You should excited to get your period? If you are, just a slight warning, don't be. It's a pain. literally. I'd say however you may get your period this year or next. Based on the average age a woman gets her period.

Don't fret. It will come sooner than you think. I was almost 15 when I had my first period. I was active as well but that isn't whaat prolonged it. It was just the way it worked out hormonally. You will get there. Your body is maturing at the rate that it was intended.

I'm 13 also, I haven't gotten mine either. We're still VERY young. I'm also very active. Some people don't get it until they're 17 and up!! If you've had boobs for about 2 years and have hair down there... then you should get it soon.
