How do I know what type of RAM to buy for my computer? I don't have a brand computer, my dad's friend built it for me.

WoW you only have 243mb of ram.. You will be lucky if they still sell it at the local computer store. Only place you will fine old memory card will be Ebay. Most importantly, check to see what type your computer use PC100-133. DDR. Its very important that you know what type it types. Usually when you remove your old ram, the old ram should have an OEM sticker on it. It should state what type of ram it is. If not. take your ram to a local computer store, they could tell you what type your is.

it seems you will need DDR 1 RAM, since you know that it was built by your father's friend, it is better you phone him to find out.
