Here's one for you republcans.

Bush led us to Iraq claiming that we would spread democracy. Why not spread democracy in cuba??

Oh - I almost forgot - cuba has many allied nations including russia and china. It also has no oil!!

For starters... we went to Iraq because our country was being threatened by Saddam's regime. There were terrorist's living there and plotting against America!

Secondly.... Saddam admitted to having the WMD during his hearings - at one point. Which was breaking the pact with the UN - which we were trying to support and keep out of the hands of a dictator who has been known to kill and harm his own citizens.

In terms of Cuba - they are not a threat to America!!!

People need to realize, the reason for invading countries is not to make every communist county into a democracy, but help the people around the world that are in need of protection.

In the case of Iraq - Saddam was using the threat of military control and death to keep his people following orders. By helping Iraq form a democracy where they are in control of their own country and the decisions... the likelihood of another dictator like Saddam will gain power and kill their citizens - dramatically decreases!

Finally - Saddam was a threat to America - Fidel Castro (at this point) is not!

Maybe because Cuba is already FAR more democratic than the US?! Of course the US government wouldn't think so.

Regardless of the propaganda that is spread in the US, Fidel has been DEMOCRATICALLY elected in every 3 years since he led the revolution that overthrew the dictator Batista. That is more than can be said for the current American president!

I keep asking about North Korea. No, I don't hear of terrorist there but what about known WMD there? Cuba just has cigars that we all wish we had (and get in Florida) Most Cubans in the states wish something would be done about the poor state of their country, and thats why so many risk their lives coming here even in those small boats to run from the "difficulties" they have to endure.
We can't police them all.....just try to get the terrorists that those other countries or neighboring countries don't do for them.

What Bush does not know is that you cannot spread democracy to other countries, the people of the country are the only ones that can bring democracy just like we did.

And by "spread democracy in Cuba" you mean overthrow Cuba's home grown police state dictatorship and replace it with a brutal foreign military occupation (like we've done in Iraq and Afghanistan)?

The claim of spreading democracy was NOT the reason for going there... just a bi-product. You should get the wurlizer prize for that spin!

You answered your own question, "it has no oil". If Bush can figure out how to make money off of sugar cane and cigars he will spread democracy there.

Because they are not an imminent threat to our national security.

Actually, they do have oil. They have been drilling for it off their coast. Better know what you are talking about before you make statements.
