I do not need the answer, but i need help solving this.
Use the strategy: make a list or table.
you have entered a science fair. the guidlines allocate 40 swuare feet per participant. How many possibilities for a rectangular space with whole number dimentions are there?

pretty simple, it is just a factoring question.

So for 40 square feet, you just need the following:

1*40
2*20
4*10
5*8
8 *5
10 * 4
20 * 2
40 * 1
so there are 8 possible combinations with length and width. But there are only 4 unique combinations.
