Only because it is for a certain date and that date begins at 12:01 AM so there is no good reason to delay the execution. Only delays can happen if they wait too long.

Executions happen at 12:01 AM because the death warrant is only good for one day. If there are delays, if the execution is not carried out during that 24-hour period, the state must re-petition the court for another death warrant.

i think it was easier for the people in the old times to get it done and then go on witht the day instead of taking time out of the day. they just get up early kill em then start the day like nomal. instead of waking up at dawn like normal then in the middle of the day when they should be farming or milking or at night when they should be going down with the sun so they can rise with it. they just wake up a lil early kill then have the day as usual. makes it easier. atleast thats what i think. oculd be that or if during the day god is watching and at night he isnt (sun is the eye of god in some religions and in old christianity).

Main reason is to keep the execution secret and avoid publicity. When publicity is welcome the executions are public at broad daylight. There are still many countries where the execution is public.

in the army they like to wake you in the middle of the night so maybe its psychological who knows how many times someone on death row is woken in the middle of the night and taken to the pace of execuition only to be taken back hours later just for the fun of it some people spend years on death row thats why they say dead man walking

I believe that it is to get it over with as soon as possible on the day the sentence is scheduled to be carried out.
