Slant your eyelid before applying the eye liner with one finger.. I use it sometimes on top but mostly on the inside .. and for the inside i just pull down my eye lid a little and apply it...

In my experience, when you try to sharpen an eyeliner it will always break if you sharpen it to a point. Sharpen it just enough to expose the liner away from the wood so it doesn't scratch your eyes.

Also, before you apply it, rub it lightly across your finger of the back of your hand to "loosen" the makeup and when you put it on your eyelid, it should go on smoothly. Put it on by holding it at an angle rather than straight down like you're writing with a pencil...

Pulling the skin taut from the outer corner works, but apply the liner in short strokes or you'll get those skipping, drag marks. You can avoid that by literally twirling the pencil in an upward motion, just be careful not to catch your lashes.

there are some eyeliner brands you can buy where you twist the top so you will never have to sharpen it,also if you only apply eyeliner where your eyelash line is,it should make putting it on much easier.good luck!

maybe you could try using a liquid eyeliner all though they can be very tricky try dipping it in a little bit of water. and gently in fethery strokes go form the inner to the outter corner. if this doesnt work you may be using a bad brand of eyeliner. try chi chi or mac ones, they have a soft application and there not that espensive

Try liquid eyeliner. It stays on longer, and doesnt smudge as easily. I have maybelline ulta liner, its easy to use and I dont have to worry about dullness and breakage. It stays on all day..You should try it! If you absolutely need to stay with pencil, introduce some humidity to the pencil by blowing on with your breath... its sounds weird but works!

I have never been able to use a pencil without stretching my eyelid to the side - creating wrinkles. I use dark eyeshadow and and a eyeliner brush and it is is a piece of cake.

I keep my makeup pencil in the refrigerator before I sharpen them, try it.
