when using internet explorer, the pictures are very pixely, but desktop is normal

goto control panel and hit display and under the slider move up. You may also need to install a new graphic driver if it won't give the option of moving the slider up. Also make sure your colors are 16/32 bit.

screen resolution is how big or small you want your window. If the screen is blurry, signs of old age or breaking down.

But try to go to control panel then click DISPLAY

Blurry? Sounds like the focus on your monitor is out of wack.

Doesn't sound blurry, it sound like you're not using enough colors. Check your video settings for the video card. 16-bit is minimum, 24-bit(32-bit) recommended.
