I'm not talking about a needy, clingy man who sends you flowers every day and calls every 15 minutes. I'm talking about a true gentleman . . . confident, honest, healthy, respectful, successful, and romantic. Men like that have been all but banished in American society, because most women see them as being "boring", and go out of their way to hurt them and take them for granted.

Chivalry? Forget about it. If you open a door for a woman, she'll slap your face. Grab a woman that you don't even know and slap her on the backside? She'll think you're the sexiest bad boy alive.

Then women whine about how they can't find a good man. A bit hypocritical, don't you think?

It definitely sounds like the question really is, where are the women that appreciate gentlemen? I personally would slap the man who randomly came up and grabbed my ***. A man who opened the door and let me pass first, however, I would definitely look at twice. Bad boys can be attractive, but the gentlemen are the real winners. And as for romance, I would favor that over a night out at a club, etc....

My man has been opening doors and carrying heavy things for me for our 31 years of marriage and he won't have it any other way. When women became strong and selfsufficient and had to have a career and run a household..that's when most men seem to have become less interested in chivalry. I doubt seriously that most women will slap you if the face if you open a car door. Especially if you tell her she deserves it. A man has to make a woman feel like a woman for the woman to want to make the man feel like a man. Most men are to lazy to try. You're a jewel..don't stop.

Women want Gentlemen, Girls want bad boys. There is a big difference. You need to know your target audience.
Women want a good provider, friend, lover and most importantly a man who knows how to take care of a woman, but understands she can do it herself.
Thoughtfulness goes a LONG way.
Just a side note: The last time a man grabbed my butt, I chipped his tooth, the last man to pull my chair out, I married and gave him 3 children.
Good MEN always win in the end.

I found a great man here in the good 'ole U.S. of A! He is exactly as you described: confident, honest, healthy, respectful, successful, and (occasionally) romantic. For a while, though, I thought it was the gentleman who had all disappeared!

There are still women who appreciate having the door opened for them (although it takes some getting used to!) and having dinner paid for by her date. We are hard to find and quickly snapped up by the true gentlemen left since we tend to appreciate what we have once we have it!

Yes, women who whine about everything are hypocritical -- and it is a growing percentage of the female population. Women born after about 1975 or so have a very confusing sense of self. We are supposed to be glamorous (in a hometown-girl sort of way), aloof (not stuck up, though!), self-assured (yet not to the point of being self-absorbed!), intelligent (but not too intelligent because many men are still scared of smart women), sexy (and innocent!), capable of taking care of ourselves (yet reliant upon the chivalrous men around), and we should have dreams and plans of our own -- which ought to include being willing to give them all up for our partners and families.

So, who's confused? We all are! But eventually you will find a woman who is all of these things and perfect for you. She will appreciate your chivalrous nature, but don't be surprised if she whips out her purse to pay for a dinner occasionally or slips up and grabs the door before you get a chance. Be yourself and let her be herself and it will work itself out in the end.

Unfortunately enough, throughout reading your question, I wondered the same exact thing.

But to answer your question:
They are appreciated! It's just that there are also few women that fully appreciate gentlemen, so it's hard for the two to meet!

... And I don't think women believe there is such thing as a man like that. But there are men like that...

After reading what agm910 typed, I can't help but agree about the younger women nowadays thing.

Gentlemen are not unappreciated, I think it really depends on what type of girl you are trying to attract, I would rather a gentleman come up to me and approach me in a classical/ old school way other than a thug or bad boy approach me and call me out of my name trying to hit and quit it, I like a man who likes to dress and go out and take care of his woman.

I'd like a man like that. There's one problem, there's no such thing as a man like that. Not anymore. You want to know why women are like that? Because most men just want sex like the dogs they are and ther are so many cases of sexual harrassment these days.

you have all the assets a girl is looking for except for the fun. you gotta be spontaneous, and never predictable (but in a good way). trust me you're a good guy, and im completely positive theres a lady out there that appreciates you. just throw a little fun out there and dont be so serious (you dont necissarily have to be sexual, just fun)
