I have met a lot of people before they became "famous" but instead of name dropping (Jim McMahon *cough*)...lemme just say that there is this kid, well heck, he's a man now, that I had the good fortune of hiring as my very first ever employee. He was 14, and would literally bike 5 miles to my home office to work and be a really low paid flunky. This kid, even at his age, was brilliant, funny and sharp as a tack. He was one of those kids that achieved anything he set his mind to. He wanted to be valedictorian. Done. He wanted to be a Youth Judge. Done. He wanted a scholarship to Harvard (to meet Natalie Portman). Done. He wanted to "borrow" lawn furniture from K-Mart for a rave and not get caught. Done. The kid could do anything...and he possessed no signs of even knowing just how special he was...no overblown ego, no drama...just a damn good kid. I was, and am proud to know him. By the time he left my employment for Harvard he could've taken over my company easy...I would've loved him as a boss.
He graduates from Harvard next fall....and he's going to do his grad work at MIT so he can learn how to be a research scientist and cure diseases...like cancer. That's his dream...that's his goal. And when he does it...I'll nod knowing all along that he could do it and say, "I knew him when..."

My brother
What made him famous is his research.
I managed the video production, marketing and websites.
George Zimmer (founder Men's Wearhouse)
Met him and chatted for a while when he only owned a few stores.
I bought some clothes so I helped him build his empire in a small way.

Yes! My best friend is on her way to being a world-famous writer. I helped inspire her in some small way. I'm so proud of my little Wordsmithette.

Ana Voog from anacam.com. I knew her in high school as (heavy Minnesohta accent) "Rachel Olson." She was a pioneering webcam personality, artist, and musician.
I didn't help her out. She's her own spirit. Just stay out of her way.

I knew the founder of Word Perfect, a couple years before the company got going. I walked by his office every day and never talked to him. Heh heh, my bad.

I think that you and I are the only people I know who may fit into this category. You know the rest of the story.
