I have been wearing glasses pretty much all my life, my husband too... When the eye is itchy and badly bloodshot as you describe it, it means there is a foreign element in your eye or an infection. I would recommend the following: 1- I have always used warm water with salt. With a cotton patch use this lotion to relieve the pain and clean your eye. Repeat this as often as possible during the day. 2- Don't touch your eye with your bare fingers! Don't use solvents or any cosmetic make-up or soap! these will make it worse. Forget about make-up until at least your eyes are back to normal for a little while. Also, don't use your contact lenses, maybe the solvent you use to clean them irritate your eye... check that out too! 2- If the itching and the redness doesn't go away using the recipe I gave you by the next day, schedule an appointment with your doctor ASAP.

Well I would first tell you to stop sleeping with the contacts in. Maybe that would help, they can cause irritation. Also see if any eye drops ease your itching eyes. If it only happens during a certain time of year, could be allergies. Rubbing your eyes is not good for them so it could be making the reaction worse. The eye dr. always says never put your fingers in your eyes, lots of bacteria. Make sure you clean your contacts well, too. Maybe it is time for a new pair or a good cleaning. Good luck!

Could be an allergy to something - an allergic reaction can often cause itchy eyes. Could be an allergy to the contact lens solution or something else.
Could be conjunctivitis (also called pinkeye) or some other infection - may be caused by the contacts being in too long.
Either way, see your ophthamologist or doctor.

you better go to a Dr, it does sound like pink eye, and you need special eye drops for that. What you are doing, is contaminating your contacts, and not letting your eyes heal.

never sleep with your contacts on..make sure you always disinfect and clean your contacts properly. If you do have conjunctivitis..(pink eye)..likely your contacts you have been wearing will need to be thrown away.

First of all you don't need to sleep with them in. Secondly, try not to rub your eyes. That can cause infection. You may need to change contacts and make sure that you clean them properly after each use. You could end up getting conjunctivitis or "pink eye"

When you wear your contacts overnight, you get burning eyes. Your eyes become dry and you need to take drops. See your doctor for which drops is better for your situation.

It could be allergies .. hay fever also causes irritated eyes .. if you have a running nose and/or sneezes hay fever is probably the cause.. Irritated eyes can also be caused by wind etc... With your contacts do you have the special cleaning drops with them . Or try some eye drops .. ask your local chemist....

Hope it helped...

I always find that sleeping in contacts is a bad idea. Also, what is the filler in your pillow. I had a down pillow and as soon as I got a new pillow, my eyes stopped swelling and itching.

Me too. My eye doctor says it's dry eyes, and suggested I use some of those saline solution eye drops (Tears). I use it every day a couple of times a day, and it worked for me.
