I am not taking sides, I just want to know why "Shiites" and "Sunnis" are repeatedly killing innocent people, even children, regardless of who they are? Or even the suicide bombers that blow up cars at offices where innocent people are simply looking for work? It just sickens me to keep hearing of all this bloodshed that is happening becuase one side is, for lack of a better analogy, trying to "get the last word in" with all these reprisal killings. And no answers that have anything to do with bashing the US please. I hear enough of that already, and i didn't even vote for the stupid president.

The Shi'ah believe that the twin legacy of Prophet Muhammad
(s) is the Qur'an and the Ahl al-Bayt (specific members of his family). The Ahl al-Bayt are the source for the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet (s). Only by obtaining instruction from both
these sources can a Muslim hope to attain true guidance.

Sunni comes from the word sunna (Arabic : سنة ), which means the tradition of the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad. Sunnis are also referred to as Ahl ul-Sunna wa-l-Jama'ah (Arabic: أهل السنة والجماعة) (people of tradition and congregation) which implies that the Sunnis are united. They represent the branch of Islam that came through the caliphate, which started with Abu Bakr.
Islam specifically forbids killing. There are specific instructions to sort out the differences among muslims. A muslim is bound to follow these rules.
These killings are politically motivated and
revengeful.

I believe the difference between shiite and sunnis goes back to a dispute over who was the proper successor to the Prophet Mohammed. Amazing how even the slightest difference between groups of people can blossom into hatred, given enough time.

It's just as someone else said it's all about who was the correct successor to the Prophet. The Prophet never said who was to be his successor and immediately someone was appointed that many disagreed upon. In short the Sunni's believe someone else should have been the successor to the Prophet. They've been arguing about this for almost 1400 years.

Resurrection. some discover it confusing to inform the adaptation. yet to them there's a international of distinction. In particular beliefs and philosophies. the same with Sunni & Shiites. They see a international of distinction no outsider will ever see." acceptable answer, break of day.
