i was just curious because it's the only scary yavanna picture i've ever seen.

OK, I am a LOTR fan, but I have to admit, I really don't know who Yavanna is. It's been a really, really long time since I read the Silmarillion. So I had to go and look up a few pics and read some about her. I saw the Daniel Govar picture of her, and then I looked at a few more pics by some other people. Most of the others that I saw show her as basically just a woman. Some portray her as elf-like, some not. Some show her as being green, some not. Some even where she is actually part tree. I think Govar didn't try to make her frightening so much as just.....different. Not human. Not elf. And to make her 'tree-like' without actually giving her branches and leaves.
