I think it makes the person look highly intelligent and sophisticated for having strong opinions and a multitude of knowledge over a vast variety of categories. They only people who think being in debate club is dorky are the people that are too caught up in their physical image to know what is really important in life... Also those who have not realized that knowledge is power which will in turn lead to them not being quite as successful in life as the "dorks".

My whole life feels like a debate club! I don't consider it "dorky". I had friends in every kind of club we had. It's a good way to teach a kid to see things objectively. We could use more of that in the world.

No, I think it is a good skill to develop. A lot of things seem dorky when you are young...but do what you want, what you're interested in anyways. I wish I would have gotten into something like that.

i have heard some sturdy issues about JROTC, and that i understand a pair human beings that are in it. yet quite, i'd advise the Civil Air Patrol. It has similar content, yet from my journey it truly is type of added in touch. Cadets can get floor crew qualified and become contributors of a search for and rescue crew for his or her squadron, bypass to peddle Mountain Ranger college, Pararescue Orientation route (Which I heard is amazingly puzzling, my First Sergeant only were given back), and shall we no longer forget summer encampment, theres lots of exciting available there, as long as your son doesn't recommendations getting yelled at slightly. both JROTC and CAP educate you sturdy habit and values for existence, yet CAP is slightly extra, for lack of a extra useful time period, "authentic." CAP squadrons have weekly conferences, generally at a community military installation, besides the undeniable fact that my squadron meets an previous organic world preparation progression. (We dont pay employ :) ) besides the undeniable fact that it truly is an astounding application to get into, i love it and Im going to be a Sophomore this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. P.S. in case your son is attracted to enlisting int he Air rigidity later in existence, if he will become a cadet officer he will start up as an E-3 (Airman 1st classification) really than E-a million (Airman effortless). wish that helped.
